Castle Forest Lodge is located deep in the thick forest on the slopes to the south of Mount Kenya. It is set in a natural surrounding of rainforest, fresh water rivers with falls, a fabulous view of the valley on one side of the lodge, and the impressive peaks of Mount Kenya on the other.

Major wildlife attractions include the elephants, Rothschild giraffes, Common zebras, Lesser kudu, Buffalo, Water Buck, Bush buck, Impala, Vervet Monkeys, Aardvark, Yellow baboons, Grants gazelle, Dik dik, Cape hare, Warthog, Black backed jackal, Duiker, Sykes monkeys, Genet cat, Slender mongoose, Stripped ground squirrel, Dwarf mongoose, Crested porcupine, Rock Hyrax, Tree Hyrax and tortoise. Hippos and crocodiles are also found in the dams and rivers. Different birds and reptile species have been recorded in the reserve.

The perfect place for the adventurous who would like to see their adrenaline rush high when rafting in River Tana which provides grade3- 5 rapids depending with seasons. you can Kayak or plunge in a height of 40 ft waterfall into the wild waters of Sagana river. Rapids camp was privy to have hosted the first ever Africa Olympic Canoe qualifier /Kayaking championship in January 2008 with over 16 African countries participating in breath taking event.
